Bed and Breakfast The Four Elements is located in Lachania. A small mountain village in the south of Rhodos, some 80 km from the airport and 73 km from the capital of Rhodos. Just like with any other island, the saying “how further away from the airport, how quieter” also holds true here. Lachaina is a typical Greek village with very old small houses, which have been rebuilt by foreigners who passed through the village, but ended up staying there for many years. It is a village with a distinct character…lots of whites and blues, the narrow streets going up and down, kittens everywhere, oranges and pomegranates in the gardens, crickets signing their songs in the evening… (to cool down or to find a mate … who knows? Here you can write your own story … under the light of the full moon and the shelter of the – almost – centuries-old plane-tree).

Here you will find some very typical village taverns. Taverna Platanos (the name says it all), where in the evening regulars and passers-by gather for a hearty Greek meal, accompanied by a traditional Greek drink, an excellent place for philosophical debate.

A few streets further up you will find the local priest’s café (Chrissis), where the genuine locals meet. They also serve delicious meals, but be prepared for “papa Jorgos”, who will want to take your picture, with him in traditional orthodox priest’s garb… Why not?His modest church is located next to the tavern Platanos at the village square. Political or local matters are usually discussed on a Sunday morning at the tavern Horizon, nearly opposite Chrissis. This is a typically Greek, no-nonsense café. run by the former mayor of Lachania and his wife. They only speak Greek but are very welcoming and helpful people. Perfect terrace for enjoying the last of the evening sun with the sea in the distance. Let your dreams carry you away…
